Managing Exams
Before the exam:
Avoid missing meals. You can keep your meals light, have fruits, juices and drink water but you need to avoid overeating as it may induce sleep.
See that you have had proper sleep of at least 7 hours.
Try to keep things that distract you away from your work Example: Video Games, Books, Pictures, Magazines,
Prepare a schedule for learning, in accordance to your exam time-table
Browse through the notes you have made or the highlights of the content.
Avoid learning any new content at the last minute.
Rumors can cause confusion avoid believing everything you hear
Have a relaxing technique to help you when you feel stressed.
Avoid spending too much time waiting with friends to enter the exam hall. Try and meet after the paper but minimize the time.
During the exam:
Show up on time to avoid unwanted stress.
Read the question paper and mark the questions you know and begin attempting them.
Leave space for the answers you don’t know and attempt them later.
Use strategies to recall e.g. some close their eyes and recall while others look up at the ceiling and try to recall what they have seen, heard or written.
Avoid copying and using inappropriate means to achieve success, and getting unnecessary stress.
Keep your table uncluttered to avoid any accidents.
Present your work neatly.
After the exam
Review your paper to get an estimate of your marks but avoid getting into brooding or sulking over it for long.
Relax and rest your mind and body before you begin to revise for the next paper.
Freshen up by exercising: see that it includes movements of all body parts as exam time does not usually provide enough physical movements.
